Amoray Dive Resort has been a Key Largo staple since the 1980s. Created by Amy Slate - member of the diving hall of fame and avid Florida Keys traveler - as the only all-in-one Resort and Dive operation in Key Largo.

After Amy's retirement in 2000, the resort was purchased by a small boutique hospitality chain, but dive center was purchased by long-time Key Largo residents and scuba instructors Jeff and Cynthia Gneiser.

Jeff and Cynthia have lived in Key Largo for the last 25 years - but still consider themselves to be transient residents! When the opportunity to purchase Amoray Dive Center came up, they jumped at the chance to be able to offer divers something more than shops that were just a shingle at the side of the road - a full resort diving package.

When Amy Slate was taking photos in the waters of Key Largo for TIME Magazine, she encountered a special surprise in the shallows: a moray eel! Paying homage to both her Italian-American heritage and her passion for marine life, Amy shouted aloud, “That’s-a-moray!”, and thus Amoray Dive Resort was born.

At Amoray Dive Center, we live by the motto Peace, Love and Diving, and all our staff try to embody these principles daily.

Our goal is to create a safe, fun and caring environment for divers of all ages and skill levels, so everyone can enjoy the sport and the natural beauty that the wrecks and reefs in Key Largo have to offer.
